The filzfun fall issue covers themes from the Allgäu to New Zealand: Kerstin Waizenegger explains how she makes comfy sitting furs from the raw wool of Allgäu sheep. At the other end of the world, Susan and Sabin Imhasly felt under their label Twinfelt. We are pleased to introduce you to Silke Sordyl’s enchanted world of trolls and report from important felting and textile art events here and abroad, amongst others from the Textile Art Berlin, ofFeltrosa in Nazzano at the Tiber and from the Journées Européennes du Feutre at Felletin. »Filzwalker« (»feltfuller«) Bruno Bujack writes about his work with the orbital sander, and Ricarda Aßmann met a wood turner in Hungary who makes fulling tools that are as beautiful as they are functional.

The filzfun was present at the German-speaking felters’ meeting in Hohebuch and at the Wollefest in Leipzig and we report first-hand!

The world of felting and textile art is more vital than ever: Which is reflected in this issue of the filzfun with reports about the first member exhibition of the felt-network (www.filznetzwerk.de), of the Soul of Felt, of the Textile Art Berlin and many more events about felting and wool; it is also reflected with the portraits of creative felt artists as well as in reports about workshops, projects and new meetings in the following year.

Animalistic, that is a good description of the autumn issue 2016 – adorable “Heartfelt Dogs” by felt artist Von Allen, bags made by Katrin Kümmel, that depict snail shells and sea shells, original “Feestbeesten” for the 25th anniversary of the Dutch Felt Association and crocheted fish made out of plastic foil at the Textile Art Trail in Bergisches Land. Go see the exhibition “All Felt or What?” at Castle Nideggen and read about exciting workshops, where felt gets plastic structures and naturalfibers are dyed after your ideas in this issue.
Two felt artists take you on their journeys to Lake Baikal and to Mongolia and they report about their interesting encounters with felters from other culture areas.
